The Great Ocean Road

The Great Ocean Road is one of Australia's major tourist destinations and a must visit if you are coming to Geelong. Hire a car and travel along the windy road which starts outside Geelong and meanders through the hinterland region adjacent to rugged coastline ending at Warrnambool. Make sure you take plenty of stops along the way for photos. 

 

 

 

The Twelve Apostles

These are world famous icons of limestone rock situated in the Southern Ocean off Port Campbell National Park. A visit along the Great Ocean Road is not complete until you have witnessed these amazing natural statues of the sea. There are numerous other natural sights to see so make sure you bring your camera because the area will make a photographer of you! Explore the surrounding natural wonders of Pudding Basin Rock, Island Arch, the Razorback, Muttonbird Island, Thunder Cave, the Blowhole, Bakers Oven, London Bridge and the Grotto. The extensive boardwalkings and viewing platforms will ensure you get a picture perfect photo at anytime, especially sunrise or sunset due to the blazing red hues.

Great Otway National Park

If you are a keen adventurer, the Great Otway National Park is surrounded by lush rainforests and waterfalls and if you enjoy a day hike and camp by the ocean, the Great Ocean Walk is a must! The Great Ocean Walk starts from Apollo Bay and ends adjacent to the Twelve Apostles. There are many day walks you can choose from according to your level of fitness and there is accommodation along the way.

Surf Coast

The surf coast along the Great Ocean Road from Torquay to Lorne offers some of the best surf in Australia. Torquay is home of the surfing museum and major surf shops. Just up the road you will hit Bells Beach, where the Rip Curl Pro Classic is held over Easter. As you travel further along the picturesque road you will pass through Aireys Inlet, Anglesea (another popular surfing spot) finally reaching Lorne, an ideal town to relax at some of the trendy cafes and restaurants.
