Flatwater: Saturday 21 October – Monday 23 October 2017,  9:00 am – 4:00 pm

Ocean Racing: Saturday 28 October 2017, 8:15am breifing, 9:00am start 


Flatwater: Lake Barrington International Rowing Course, 520 Staverton Road, Promised Land

16km Ocean Race Start: Wynyard Yacht Club, 2A Old Bass Highway, Wynyard

Finish: Burnie Surf Life Saving Club, West Beach, North Terrace, Burnie, if weather is westerly.

Alternate venue will be Penguin Surf Life Saving Club to Burnie if the weather is easterly.

Marathon: (140 minute limit for all paddlers)

65+ years, 15 km without portages 



Ocean Race (Downwind - conditions permitting)

16km - Surf Ski 

6km - OC1, OC2 and SUP


MSurf - ski/ocean ski – men’s single

WSurf - ski/ocean ski – women’s single

MOC1 – Outrigger canoe, men’s single

WOC1 – Outrigger canoe, women’s single

MOC2 – Outrigger canoe, men’s double

MSUP - Stand-up paddleboard, men’s single

NB: 3 hour time limit for all paddlers

Age Groups

30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80+

Age Requirements

Age is to be determined as at 1 October 2017

Minimum age for competition is 30 years

Participation Fees

Games Entry Fee: $99 per person or $88 per person for people aged 70+

(the above entry fees will increase to $126.50 and $115.50 respectively as at 12 August 2017)

Sport Entry Fee:  Flatwater $50.00 per person all events

Ocean Race $30.00 per person

Number of Participant Requirements

Minimum number of participants required to conduct the Lake Barrington competition: 25

Minimum number of participants required to conduct the Ocean Race competition: 1

Minimum number of participants required to conduct age groups: 3

Any age group that does not have a minimum of 3 participants will be combined with another age group where possible.

Additional Information

  • Paddlers may enter 1 single, 1 double and 1 mixed gender class per distance.
  • For sprint and marathon K1 events, participants are to nominate for a specific age group and will be restricted to events within that age group.
  • Age for a multi-person craft will be determined by the age of the youngest paddler.
  • Participants may only paddle in one age category per class of craft.
  • There may be some programming flexibility dependent on entry numbers.
  • Competitors must be a member of a club affiliated with Australian Canoeing (AC) or Surf Life Saving Australia (SLSA) to be covered for Personal Accident Insurance. Club name and membership number is to be a mandatory field on the entry application. A three month AC membership is available by following a link to go to the Tasmanian Canoe Club website: 
  • Those nominating for the Ocean Race will need to contact to if they wish to borrow a boat.
